In the span of one hour on Tuesday, January 17, both the Madison College men's and women's basketball teams were awarded separate forfeit wins, though from different opponents.
The WolfPack women, who are riding a five-game win streak and a 4-0 start to the North Central Community College Conference season, will no longer host Harper College on Wednesday, January 18. The Hawks announced they will be unable to field a full team due to too many injuries, thus
forfeiting the game to Madison College. The game will go down as a 2-0 conference win for the WolfPack, keeping
Lois Heeren and company atop the N4C standings at 5-0. The game will not count towards the season's overall record. The Madison College women will return to action Saturday, January 21 against College of DuPage (4-10, 2-2). The WolfPack is 18-13 all-time against the Chaparrals and have won six straight games. Tip off is at 1:00 p.m. in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
As for the Madison College men, they were notified on Tuesday that then #1-ranked South Suburban College (NJCAA Division III) used an ineligible player in their narrow 75-69 win over the WolfPack in the opener of the Gogebic Community College Classic in Ironwood, Michigan, on December 16, 2016. Therefore, the NJCAA has awarded Madison College a 2-0 forfeit win, boosting their current record to 11-7. All statistics from the game shall remain and only the final result will be changed.
