Evan Wartgow had the top score at the Highland "36 at the Park Hills Golf Course.
The Madison College golf team opened up the 2010 season by playing two rounds of golf at the Highland "36" at the Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport, Ill. The team finished right in the middle of the pack, taking seventh place out of 15 teams by shooting a 624 in two rounds of golf.
Evan Wartgow led the WolfPack and all golfers at the invitational by shooting a 147 (72-75) over the two rounds in his first outing of the year.
The highly competitive invitational was won by the WolfPack's N4C rival, Rock Valley College. The Golden Eagles shot a 609, edging the host team - Highland Community College - by one stroke. While the WolfPack boasted the top scorer of the invitational, the Golden Eagles had two golfers finish in the top five. If the results of the Highland "36" are any indication of the remainder of the season, it looks like Rock Valley and Madison College will once again be battling atop the N4C.
